Application deadline February 12
Admission process in both access academy and undergraduate programmes under the current session has begun at Asian University for Women (AUW) in Chittagong city.
AUW Director (admission and student recruitment) Rehana Alam Khan briefed the media about their curricula and academic activities at a press conference here yesterday.
All female students aged 17-25 and having completed 12 years of schooling and earned 60 percent marks or equivalent grades in the final exams are eligible to apply.
The admission aspirants must also have a minimum score of 60 percent in English and the last Mathematics exams. Application deadline is February 12, 2011.
Rehana Khan said AUW offers a unique programme in liberal arts and sciences with emphasis on critical thinking coupled with practical training and internship opportunities.
AUW’s Chief Operating Officer Omar Shareef answered the queries of the journalists at the end of the press conference.
Beginning in 2008, AUW is about to welcome its 4th batch of students, which currently has over 400 female students from a host of countries, said Shareef.
The countries are Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Bhutan, Cambodia, China, India, Myanmar, Pakistan, Palestine, Nepal, Sri Lanka, and Vietnam.
Now the students have enrolled in AUW’s pre-university and undergraduate programme, Shareef told the conference organised on AUW makeshift campus at MM Ali Road.
Rehana Khan said aim of the university is to empower women to assume leadership positions in their communities as well as in the world.
AUW prepares women of high ability and potential to meet society’s challenges and bring positive change through an innovative rigorous curriculum, she added.
Rehana said the mission, programme, and long-term goals of AUW focus on being a catalyst for positive change in the developing nations in the world.
