An army man was killed allegedly by drugging gang at Khilkhet in the capital on Thursday night.
The victim was identified as Tajerul Islam Taj, 35, a corporal of Bangladesh Army.
Tajerul was found unconscious under the foot over-bridge at Khilkhet at about 10:30pm. He was rushed to Combined Military Hospital at 11:00am where he died within a few minutes after his admission, said cantonment police station subinspector Benojir Ahmed.
Dhaka Metropolitan Police deputy commissioner (media and public relation) Masudur Rahman confirmed the incident.
Corporal Tajerul was posted at 56 East Bengal Regiment in Comilla Cantonment. He was on a transit at the army’s Transit Camp at Khilkhet.
Benojir said that there were several marks of wounds at Tajerul’s back and leg.
The body was later taken to Dhaka Medical College Hospital for post mortem examination.
According to medical report, Tajerul was drugged with some sedative tablets. With the excessive affects of the tablets he fainted and later died.
The victim’s brother Sumon filed an unnatural death case with the Khilkhet police.
Tajerul was survived by widow and two daughters.
His namaz-e-janaza and burial will be held today at Nababganj in Dinajpur.
