Sylhet Bouddha Samiti, an organisation of the Buddhist community, formed a human chain at Sylhet on Saturday, demanding arrest of the killers of Ringku Barua,
a businessman of Surma Market of the city.
The Chittagong Samiti Sylhet, local unit of Hindu-Buddhist-Christian Oikya Parishad and Surma Market Businessmen Association also participated in the human chain programme held in front of the city’s Central Shaheed Minar at noon.
Ringku Barua, 43, son of Sukumar Barua, and owner of a printing firm, was hacked to death in the night of May 23 when he was returning to his Upa-shahar residence.
The police suspected that Ringku was murdered following a quarrel with another printing shop owner of the same market over a business deal.
Addressing the human chain, the speakers expressed their frustration as the killer suspects were not arrested even after 9 days of the murder of Ringku Barua, also a life member of the Chittagong Samiti Sylhet.
They threatened to launch a tougher moment, if the law enforcing agencies did not take quick step to bring the actual killers to book.
