A research work on Tagore song titled The Art of Tagore’s Songs by Karunamaya Goswami was unveiled on Monday at the Bangabandhu International Conference Centre in the capital.
Eminent Tagore scholar and musicologist Karunamaya Goswami took three years to accomplish the research work.
Covering various aspects of Tagore song and his arts, Karunamaya Goswami said, ‘Rabindranath introduced European touch in our music. In this age of globalisation, Tagore song is the most powerful representative of the Bangla music.’
Information minister Abul Kalam Azad was present on the occasion as chief guest. Former chief adviser to the caretaker government Habibur Rahman and foreign secretary Mohamed Mijarul Quayes were also present at the event among others.
Habibur Rahman said, ‘I am honoured to be a part of such an event related to Tagore and his works. He is our shelter and has defined every sphere of our life.’
High officials of the HSBC also spoke on the occasion among others.
Besides, rendition of Tagore songs by noted singers Aditi Mohsin, Mita Haque and Indian singer Srikanta Acharya was the most attractive part of the event.
