Idol makers and design artistes in nine upazilas of Pabna are working with vigour and enthusiasm to prepare for the upcoming Durga Puja, which begins next Tuesday. A total of 305 puja mandaps are being set up in nine upazilas of the district for the upcoming Durga Puja, said Ganesh Chandra Ghosh, president of
the Durga Puja Udjapan Parishad of the district.
The entrance to every mandap is being lavishly decorated with embellished gates and bright lights to attract devotees, while wood and bamboo altars for staging the idols of Durga are being colourfully adorned with paper, jute carpeting and other ornaments. Preparations are also ongoing for traditional fairs and cultural functions near every mandap.
A large number of artistes after painting, dressing and embellishing the idols, are now putting finishing touches to the statues of the deities for the five-day festival.
