Former national team captain Mohammad Ashraful has been appointed as the specialist batting coach.
Abdur Razzak, a former spinner and now a board director, will take on the role of team director for the upcoming series against Ireland.
The Bangladesh Cricket Board made this announcement on Monday night.
Ashraful has completed his level-3 coaching certification and is currently the head coach of Barishal in the National Cricket League.
He also previously served as the head coach for the same team during the NCL T20.
Razzak highlighted that Ashraful’s wealth of experience played a crucial role in their decision to bring him on board.
He shared this insight during a press conference at the Sher-e Bangla Stadium following a board meeting.
Ashraful will collaborate with head coach Phil Simmons and Mohammad Salahuddin, who oversees the batting department.
Razzak pointed out that the board acknowledged the need for a stronger focus on batting, which has been a long-standing challenge for the national team.
He also made it clear that there were no discussions about anyone failing in their roles, and no one has been let go from their positions.
Razzak shared that stepping into his new role with the national team feels quite familiar.
He explained, “My job will be similar to that of any other team director. I’ll keep an eye on everything, and if anyone needs help, I’ll be there to lend a hand. If they require support, I’ll do my utmost to assist.”
In addition, the BCB announced that female cricketers will now receive $75, an increase from the previous $50, as their daily allowances during a series or tour. Their salaries have also seen a 50% boost.
BCB directors Khaled Mashud, Asif Akbar, and Amzad Hussain were all present at the press conference.
