Noted playwright-director Nurul Alam Atique will offer four tele-films in different channels in the upcoming Eid-Ul Fitr.
Atiq, who does not usually go after the quantity, has written and directed ‘Naa Kamola Naa Meherjan, Television Majid,
Shahed Holo Nurul and Nolok for the Eid celebrations.
‘I have worked a lot targeting the upcoming Eid as it is quite unlikely for me to make four Tele films in a short period of time,’ Nurul Alam Atique told New Age.
Like his previous other works, Atique has dealt with some innovative storylines for the Eid festivity.
He has adapted Rabindranath Tagore’s short story Mosulmanir Galpo as the telefilm Naa Kamola Naa Meherjan, which will be aired on Channel9 on Eid day.
‘The play deals with a very contemporary issue: glorifying humanism over religion,’ said Nurul Alam Atique.
His tele-film Nolok features lifestyle of the fishermen community. ‘Nolok, which we filmed in Chittagong, is a story of a fishermen community featuring their pathos,
passions and love stories,’ Atique said.
‘The telefilm will be aired on the third day of Eid celebrations on GTV,’ he added.
According to Atique, the story of Shahed Holo Nurul is has been made from his personal account. ‘The tele-pretty much portrays my personal life. I have revealed man’s
gradual development from weak to strong’, Atique told New Age.
Television Majid, scheduled to be aired on RTV, however, is written by Mir Sami. ‘I don’t direct a play unless the story is very good. In the play, Sami has
artistically presented happiness and sorrows of a common man named Majid,’ Atiq said.
Talented playwright-director Nurul Alam Atique emerged as a scriptwriter in early 2000 in mega serials. Subsequently, he started writing and directing TV plays.
As a screen playwright, Nurul Alam Atique won Bangladesh National Film Award for the full-length feature film Kittankhola, directed by Abu Sayeed based on Selim Al
Deen’s play having the same title, in 2008.
Graduated from Pune Film Institute in India, he emerged as film director through Dubsatar recently.
