In reply of the premier’s Sunday’s allegation against BNP on August 21 attack, BNP Acting Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir said the government has implicated his party leaders in connection with the attack to obscure the real culprits.
Alamgir made the statement while addressing an iftar party at Lalbagh area in the city.
He alleged that the ruling party is trying to divert the investigation process into the incident as part of politics of vengeance.
“The government has framed charge after seven year of the incident implication BNP senior vice chairman Tarique Rahman which is blatantly false and politically motivated,” Alamgir said.
He added that the government wants to tarnish the image and dignity of the family members of late Ziaur Rahman by doing these.
The BNP leader claimed that there were no hands of the opposition partymen in the incident He also demanded writing off BNP leaders’ names including Tarique Rahman from the chargesheet of the attack.
