Voluntary blood donors’ organisation Badhan celebrated its 13th founding anniversary on the Dhaka University campus on Sunday.
At around 9:30am, they brought out a procession, opened by the university vice-chancellor AAMS Arefin Siddique and joined by around 400 members of Badhan. The procession paraded different roads on the university campus.
After the procession, a discussion meeting, organised by Badhan, was held at the TSC auditorium.
Acting as a special guest, Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University vice-chancellor Pran Gopal Das hoped Badhan would continue its humanitarian job in future.
He also urged the government to increase the supply of life saving medicine to the rural areas.
Presiding over the programme, Shakwat Hossain Tamim said in 2009 Badhan identified blood groups of around eight lakh people across the country and collected blood from around 49,000 donors and fairly distributed it.
Acting as a chief
guest, DU vice-chancellor AAMS Arefin Siddique said Badhan added a
new dimension to blood collection through encouraging people to donate blood.
The discussion meeting was also attended by other distinguished guests.
Later Badhan screened a documentary on blood donation in front of the TSC.
