The three-day Bangladesh International Tourism Fair 2013 began on Thursday at Bangabandhu International Conference Centre in the capital.
Bangladesh Foundation for Tourism Development and Association of Travel Agents of Bangladesh in collaboration with Ministry of Civil Aviation and Tourism, Bangladesh Tourism Board, Federation of Bangladesh Chambers of commerce and Industry, Bangladesh Inbound Tour operators Association and Bangladesh International Hotel Association organised the fair.
Travel agents, tour operators, hotels and resorts, card sellers, hospitals, institutions, national tourism organisation, airlines, financial institution, online sellers and other tourism service providers of 25 countries including the USA, Europe, Middle East and South Asia including Indian states are taking part in the fair.
There are 155 stalls in the 3rd international tourism fair.
Addressing the launching ceremony, civil aviation and tourism minister Ruhul Amin Hawlader said present political situation over the general election could be solved through discussion.
Regarding the termination of Jatiya Party leader Kazi Zafar, he said the JP chairman might address the party situation at a press conference on Friday.
Tourism secretary Khurshed Alam Chowdhury, FBCCI president Kazi Akram Uddin Ahmed, Bangladesh Foundation for Tourism Development president Hakim Ali, Association of Travel Agents of Bangladesh president SN Manzur Murshed, diplomats from Indonesia, Myanmar, Maldives, Bhutan and Sri lanka were also present at the inauguration ceremony.
At the event, Biman Bangladesh Airlines as official airliner is offering 25 per cent discount on tickets for all incoming participants.
Airlines like Malindo, Novo Air, Regent Air and United Air are also offering special fare for the event. Attractive prizes along with air tickets are going to be awarded at raffle draw.
The fair entry fee is Tk 20.
