A Bangladeshi cricket team was invited to take part in a tournament organised by the cricket association of Bengal for celebrating the 150th year’s anniversary of Eden Gardens, said Bangladesh Cricket Board president Nazmul Hasan on Monday. Former Indian national cricket team captain Sourav Ganguly sent the invitation letter on behalf of the CAB to the Bangladesh Cricket Board, said Nazmul, adding that the BCB is positively considering it.
‘We received a letter from Ganguly where he invited us to send a team for a friendly tournament for the 150th anniversary of Eden Gardens,’ said Nazmul.
‘Though it is not an ICC programme but I am personally interested to participate in this tournament.’
It was learnt that the tournament will be held sometime between October and November, which clashes with the schedule of the forthcoming Dhaka Premier League and Bangladesh’s forthcoming series with Zimbabwe.
Nazmul said that he is aware of the possible schedule clash and added that the matter will be discussed in today’s BCB meeting. ‘We will discuss the matter tomorrow in the board meeting and will discuss with the club officials about deferring the DPL for one week period so that we can send Bangladesh ‘A’ team there,’ Nazmul added.
