Bangladesh made a winning start in the Citycell South Asian Basketball Championship, beating Bhutan by 89-44 points in the opening match at the Dhanmondi Basketball Gymnasium on Thursday.
Bangladesh were leading 40-19 after the first half. Mithun scored highest 20 points for Bangladesh, three more than his team-mate Rashed who scored 17.
However, Galden of Bhutan was the highest scorer of the match with 22 points.
Maldives were playing against Nepal in the second match of the day when this report was filed.
A total of five teams – Bhutan, Pakistan, Maldives, Nepal and hosts Bangladesh – are participating in the tournament.
