Bangladesh has already joined the names of record-holders in the Guinness Book of World Records for the biggest human flag which was
made on February 21 by thousands.
This time the country is all set to accomplish another record by singing the national anthem by tens of thousands of people.
Preparations for the record-making event, which is scheduled to be held on the Independence Day, are going on in full swing.
As part of the preparation, noted musicians and hundreds of general people gathered on the premises of Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy on Sunday to rehearse for the event titled Lakho Kanthe Sonar Bangla.
At the Lakho Konthe Sonar Bangla programme, it is expected that about three lakhs people will come and sing the national anthem Amar Sonar Bangla Ami Tomay Bhalobashi in chorus at the National Parade Ground on March 26, the Independence Day, with an aim to grafting the name of Bangladesh in the Guinness Book of World Records.
Noted singers, including Shahin Samad, Fatima- Tuz-Zohra, Khairul Anam Shakil, Ferdous Ara, Mahadev Saha, Indramahon Rajbanshi, Timir Nandi, Mita Haq, Abdul Jabbar, Tapan Chowdhury, Rafiqul Alam, took part to rehearse the beautiful song along with general people on Friday. Noted musician Sujoy Shyam directed the performance of the chorus.
Besides the national anthem, the chorus also presented two patriotic songs Bijoy Nishan Urchhe Oi and Swadhin Swadin Dike Dike at the programme. The performance was followed by cultural minister Asaduzzaman Noor’s speech. ‘Lakho Konthe Sonar Bangla will be boost for the patriotic spirit of the people’, said the minister.
About the programme, noted folk artiste Indramahon Rajbanshi told New Age, ‘I am pleased to sing the national anthem with such a huge crowd. I am looking forward to singing with tens of thousands on the Independence Day’.
People from different walks of life attended the rehearsal. ‘One of my friends informed me about the rehearsal and I hurried here to take part,’ said Junaid, a college student from Mohammdpur, who came with his friends at the event.
Sharmin Sathi, a resident of Motijheel, was also among the singers. ‘I am excited to participate in the programme on the Independence Day,’ said Sathi.
