The Bangladesh national women’s cricket team succumbed to a heavy nine-wicket defeat against their South African counterparts in the second Twenty20 international at Senwes Park, Potchefstroom on Saturday. Courtesy of the win, the South African women’s team took an unassailable 2-0 lead in the three-match T20 series. Electing to take first strike after winning the toss, the Bangladesh women’s team posted 84-6 in their stipulated 20 overs as Ayesha Rahman (34) and Lata Mondal (31) chipped in with some useful contributions.
Farzana Haque (4), Rumana Ahmzanne Kapp scalped 4-6 in four overs for the home side.
In reply, Trisha Chetty lead the chase for the hosts with an unbeaten 38 off 34 balls as the South African women’s team cantered home with more than eight overs to spare. Fellow opener Lizelle Lee scored 37 off 28 balls.
