The Indian women’s cricket team swept their Twenty20 International series against Bangladesh at the Sheikh Kamal International Cricket Stadium in Cox’s Bazar, beating the hosts by seven wickets in the third match on Thursday. Bangladesh were restricted to 81-8 in their 20 overs after winning the toss and electing to bat. Captain Salma Khatun led the way with 34 runs and opener Ayesha Rahman added 18, but they received little support as no other Bangladeshi reached double-figures.
Gouher Sultana and Sravanthi Naidu took three wickets each for India.
India cruised to 82-3 in 16.4 overs, led by opener Latika Kumari’s 36 and Shikha Pandey’s 26.
Bangladesh lost the first two games of the series in Cox’s Bazar by 16 runs on Sunday and eight wickets on Tuesday. They will next take on Pakistan on Saturday for the second game of their
two-match T20 series, having lost the first match by 13 runs on March 8, before the India series.
The matches are a part of the Bangladesh women’s team’s preparation for their maiden appearance at the ICC World Twenty20 in Bangladesh.
