Shuttlers of host Bangladesh continued their awful performance on the third day of the Yonex-Sunrise Bangladesh Open International Badminton Challenge on Thursday.
In the women’s singles, Brishti Khatun lost to Pai Hsiao Ma of Chinese Taipei by straight sets of 21-10, 21-5 points. In the women’s doubles, Brishti Khatun and Rehana Parvin failed to beat the Sri Lankan duo, while Nabila Akter and Shapla Akter lost their game against their Indian opponents.
In the mixed doubles, Gaurav Venkat and Juhi Dewangan of India outclassed Bangladesh duo Javed Mostafa and Shapla Akter while the Ahsan Habib-Nabila Akter pair lost their match against Malaysian pair M Nurizwan and S Saniru.
Meanwhile, Hsu Jen Hao of Chinese Taipei, Dharma Alrie Guna of Indonesia, Yogendran Krishnan of Malaysia and Shubhankar Dey of India advanced to the semi-finals of the men’s singles with victories over their respective rivals.
Liang Jui Wei-Liao Kuan Hao and Hung Ying Yuan-Cheng Heng Su of Chinese Taipei, Deepak Khatri-Gaurav Venkat of India and Jagdish Singh-Wee Long Roni Tan of Malaysia moved to the next round of the men’s doubles.
The Indian mixed doubles pairings of Abhijeet Naimpally and Trupti Murgunde and Abhishek Ahlawat and Sanskriti Chhabra also won their respective matches.
