Mobile phone operator Banglalink launched commercial 3G service in Dhaka and Chittagong on Monday. Banglalink 3G service is currently available in Gulshan, Banani, Old DOHS, Baridhara and Motijheel areas in the capital and in the port city’s Agrabad area.
Posts and telecommunications minister Shahara Khatun launched the commercial service of Banglalink at the Westin Hotel in Dhaka on the day.
The company is offering 10 different slabs of 3G service based on price, volume and validity period but did not mention the speed.
Banglalink’s 3G packages, starting from Tk 30 for 50MB data with a validity period of 5 days, goes up to 10GB at a price of Tk 1,600 with a validity period of 30 days.
Banglalink chief executive officer Ziad Shatara said, ‘Banglalink has always been at the forefront of telecommunication technology in Bangladesh — the commercial launch of 3G reiterates our resolve to make available the most modern services so that our customers can start something new.’
National Board of Revenue chairman Golam hossain, telecom secretary Md Abu Bakar Siddique and Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission chairman Sunil Kanti Bose were present on the occasion, among others.
