Holders Prime Bank Cricket Club beat Prime Doleshwar by six wickets in their Dhaka Premier League Super League match on Wednesday at Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium to keep their title hopes alive.
Doleshwar made 100-6 in 33 overs before rain halted the match before Prime were given a revised target of 118 from 33 overs and they reached home by scoring 122-4 in 25 overs.Doleshwar lost their opening batsman Rony Talukdar in the second ball of the innings and his partner Imtiaz was run out in the following over to leave the side on 2-2.
Saghir Hossain (five) soon followed them although Indian batsman Sachin Baby (17) and Roqibul Hassan made brief resistance but they fell down in space of five balls as Doleshwar were reduced to 46-5 in the 15th over.
Nasir Hossain, who remained not out on 30 off 51 balls with three boundaries, was trying to resurrect the innings before the rain forced the innings to an abrupt end.
Rubel Hossain , who was adjudged the man of the match, grabbed 2-19 while Monir Hossain, Shuvagata Hom and Nazmul Islam got one wicket each for Prime.
In reply, Prime made a similar start like their opponents as opener Mehedi Maruf was dismissed by Doleshwar skipper Farhad Reza in the second ball of the innings without troubling the scorer.
Prime skipper Shuvagata (17) and Indian recruit Unmukt Chand added 24 runs and though skipper was dismissed but Chand remained not out on 43 till the end.
Chand, who faced 61 balls and struck three fours and two sixes, got support from Sabbir Rahman (28) and with wicketkeeper Nurul Hasan (16 not out) he coasted his side home.
