Bangladesh Bank on Thursday asked the scheduled banks to keep their branches open in 40 districts on Saturday to facilitate the filing of nomination papers for the upcoming first phase of upazila council elections. The BB issued a circular to managing directors and chief executive officers of all banks asking them to keep open all their branches at 102 upazilas of 40 districts on January 25.
Banks in Bangladesh usually remain closed on Fridays and Saturdays.
Banks will have to be remained open as candidates require depositing pay order or postal order or bank draft for the Election Commission.
