Bangladesh Association of Software and Information Services will hold the ‘US-Bangladesh Technology Summit’ in New York on October 13, 2010, to attract non-resident Bangladeshi professionals and entrepreneurs to invest in Bangladesh as well as provide technological support to the country.
BASIS president Mahboob Zaman said finance minister AMA Muhith was expected to attend the event as chief guest.
Bangladesh Bank governor Atiur Rahman and prime minister Sheikh Hasina’s son, Sajeeb Wazed, is also expected to be present.
The summit will be held from 11:00am to 3:30pm at Marriott Marquis on Times Square in New York City. There will be two sessions on ‘Rapid technological transformation of Bangladesh: opportunities for US companies’ and ‘Building digital Bangladesh: partnering with non-resident Bangladeshis’.
Non-resident Bangladeshi IT entrepreneurs and professionals from different states of the USA will take part at the event.
Top executives from Fortune 500 companies, NY-based IT software companies, reputed consulting firms, and local IT associations and chamber leaders will be among the participants.
Export Promotion Bureau and Outsource World are the co-organisers of the event, with Greater New York Chamber of Commerce, US Pan Asian American Chamber of Commerce, US Bangladesh Partners, US Bangladesh Technology Association and Network of Young Bangladeshi American Professionals working as partners of the event.
BASIS president said the US Bangladesh Technology Summit will be organised alongside Global Sourcing Forum, a large technology conference and exhibition held annually in New York.
