Bangladesh Bank on Thursday asked scheduled banks to set up closed-circuit television cameras at their all types of information technology-related rooms to ensure adequate security, said officials of the central bank. The BB issued a circular to managing directors and chief executive officers of all banks asking them to ensure implementation of the directive under the BB’s guidelines on the ICT security for scheduled banks and financial institutions.
A BB official told New Age on Thursday that the central bank had given the directive to the banks to ensure the adequate security for the banks’ IT-related infrastructure as such type of infrastructure was highly important for financial transactions.
He said that some banks had recently faced horrible crisis to conduct financial transactions due to unexpected technical problems in the IT-related infrastructure.
