The Bangladesh Cricket Board has planned to introduce a youth-level four-day competition featuring the franchises of Bangladesh Cricket League, said the officials on Saturday.
BCB officials had a meeting with the representatives BCL franchises on Saturday where they all accepted the proposal positively, said Khaled Mahumd, the chairman of development committee.
‘They are really excited with our proposals. Now all we need to give them are an estimated budget and a timeframe for the tournament,’ he said. Franchises are not required to pay any extra fees for participating in the tournament and only have to bear the expenses and provide logistic support,’ he said.
Mahmud added that the BCB is planning to hold the next edition of BCL immediately after the national team returns from the ICC World Cup 2015.
BCL, which was inaugurated in 2012-13, was played between four zones- Walton Central Zone, Islamic Bank East Zone, BCB North and Prime Bank South Zone.
It was learnt that Islamic Bank requested the board to change their zone as they preferred north instead of east. The BCB asked the bank to submit a letter to the board for consideration.
