The first meeting of the Bangladesh Cricket Board disciplinary panel was held on Saturday three months after the ICC’s Anti-Corruption and Security Unit charged nine individuals for match-fixing related offence in the Bangladesh Premier League. Retired Supreme Court justice Mohammad Abdur Rashid is heading the disciplinary panel, which also includes retired justice Khademul Islam Chowdhury, retired justice Sheikh Rezwan Ali, former district & session Judge SKM Anisur Rahman Khan, advocate Ajmamul Hossain, poet Nirmalendu Goon, former cricketers Shakil Kashem, Fakrul Ahsan, Mahmudul Hasan Saju and Mahboob Hussain Nantoo.
The BCB said the chairman of the panel will form an Anti-Corruption Tribunal shortly for trial of the individuals charged in BPL match-fixing scandal. The Board also provided them with an office at Gulshan from where they will operate
Among the charged, left-arm spinner Mosharraf Hossain and paceman Mahbubul Alam pleaded not guilty along with the owners of Dhaka Gladiators. Former national captain Mohammad Ashraful confessed his involvement, though he did not formally plead guilty.
