The Bangladesh Cricket Board decided not to host West Indies in the coming months as they want to complete the domestic tournaments without any disruption, said its official on Tuesday.
The decision came within a week after BCB president Nazmul Hasan announced West Indies intended to play Tigers at home in a one-Test series in the next two months.BCB president indicated a positive outcome after the proposal was sent by West Indies Cricket Board recently as it will allow Tigers to add some experience in the longer version game.
Bangladesh is scheduled to travel to India in August to play a one-match Test series against them though BCCI is yet to confirm Eden Gardens as the venue of the series considering chances of rain at that time in Kolkata.
However, BCB officials said that they are emphasising on completing the Dhaka Premier League at this point while they will have a similar stance in other available options in November.
‘We cannot come to any positive decision regarding the proposed series against West Indies at the moment,’ BCB’s media committee chairman Jalal Yunus told reporters at Mirpur on Tuesday.
‘We cannot host the series in April or May as we have our own domestic tournament,’ said Jalal.
‘There was also a possibility in November to play against them but we have our own BPL [Bangladesh Premier League franchise-based Twenty20 tournament] to complete,’ said Jalal.
According to sources, there is a talk going on between BCB and Pakistan Cricket Board to arrange a short trip of Bangladesh national team to the trouble-torn country in September.
But the BCB chief executive Nizamuddin Chowdhury brushed aside any such negotiation between the two boards.
