The Bangladesh Cricket Board’s ad-hoc committee members will be passing a busy time when they attend the executive board meeting on Monday as several key issues remained to be solved.
The most important issue is the BCB elections as they are running out of time after all the member nations of the ICC completed forming their elected bodies as desired by the highest governing body of cricket.
The BCB, which is run by the ad-hoc body at the moment, is yet to take initiative to complete their elections despite the last elected body ending its four-year tenure on November 28 and the process is being delayed due to a court ruling.
‘Election is one of the major issues high on the agenda,’ Ismail Haider Mallick, a member of the BCB ad-hoc committee, told New Age on Sunday.
Bangladesh’s captain issue will also be discussed at the meeting as current skipper Mushfiqur Rahim shocked everyone by his decision to step down after the Tigers’ dismal performance in Zimbabwe.
‘It can also come up as it is a burning issue at the moment,’ said Mallick.
Mallick, also the member-secretary of the Bangladesh Premier League governing council, will inform the board about issuing a legal notice to the franchises for failing to pay their players’ dues.
The BCB is bracing for a financial disaster as it did not receive any money from Game On Sports Management, the event management company which organised the BPL on its behalf. It is also under pressure to clear the dues of players after having been failed to bring the franchises to term.
‘There will be some post-facto issues and financial matters as well,’ added Mallick.
Meanwhile, BCB president Nazmul Hasan will sit with the representatives of the Dhaka Premier Cricket League clubs on Monday the morning at SNBS to resolve the crisis.
The league is yet to start, making it uncertain the livelihood of several cricketers as the clubs demanded to play it only if all the national players are available.
