Islami Bank Bangladesh Limited signed a deal worth Tk 10 crore with the Bangladesh Cricket Board on Wednesday for beautification of Dhaka city ahead of the upcoming World Cup.
As part of the agreement, the IBBL and the BCB will work together to decorate certain roads of the city with lights, balloons, light-emitting diode (LED) backlit display balls and other eye catching materials.
A total of 15 gates will be placed across city as part of the beautification programme, which is in addition to the one already undertaken by the Dhaka City Corporation for around Tk 86 crore.
The BCB will erect two gates while the IBBL will be responsible for the other 13 gates with materials imported from Singapore. The BCB officials vowed to give look like that of Singapore, which often decorates famous orchard roads.
As part of the deal, the bank will brand 25 BRTC double-decker buses with Bank logo and will also brand two Mercedes buses which will carry the players to the match venues and practice grounds.
‘We are thankful to the Islami Bank for extending a helping hand. It is their first involvement with cricket and we hope this relationship will grow stronger in the coming days,’ said BCB president AHM Mustafa Kamal.
‘The bank wishes the Bangladesh team good luck in the World Cup and we hope to be with them always,’ ANM Abduz Zaher, chairman of the board of directors of IBBL, said after the signing the agreement.
