Opener Imrul Kayes scored a century but it was not enough to stave off their second consecutive defeat for the Bangladesh Cricket Board XI in Acharya Memorial Challenger Trophy in Kolkata on Tuesday. The BCB XI lost to Karnataka XI by five wickets despite Imrul’s 100 off 104 balls featuring nine fours and three sixes propelling them to 260-9 in their stipulated 50 overs. Out of form Nasir Hossain scored 56 runs among others for the BCB XI.
Shishir Bhavane scored 112 off 105 balls and shared 110 runs with Mayank Agarwal for the second wicket as Karnataka reached 264-5 with 21 balls to spare.
Naeem Islam claimed two wickets for the BCB XI giving away 32 runs.
The BCB XI, who also lost to Mumbai by eight-wicket in their Monday’s opening game, are out of the race for final and will end their campaign tomorrow when they will face hosts Bengal XI.
The tournament was organised to celebrate 150th anniversary of Kolkata’s Eden Garden stadium.
