The Bangladesh Hockey Federation is in talks with leading cellular operator Grameenphone to have it as the permanent sponsor of the national team,
Khawaja Rahamatullah, general secretary of the BHF said on Saturday.
The BHF submitted a proposal to Grameenphone for the sponsorship deal worth Tk 3 crore and Rahamat Ullah was hopeful that the deal will be accomplished soon.
`We met with the officials of Grameenphone Limited several times to settle the deal and the discussion between the two parties went well. Today (Saturday) we gave them a proposal and they will forward it to the higher authority for final approval. I hope Grameenphone will support us,’ said Rahamatullah.
The national hockey team will take part in the Asia Cup in August in Singapore. Rahamatullah was optimistic that the deal will be settled before the Asia Cup gets underway.
Meanwhile, the BHF received Tk 90 lakh from Janata Bank Limited for the purpose of recruiting a foreign coach for the national team.
The league committee of the BHF, however, called a meeting on Tuesday to fix the date of the player transfers and Rahamatullah wished that the transfers will conclude this month.
