The Bangladesh Hockey Federation wanted to host round two of the World Hockey League which is scheduled to be held next year, informed Khaja Rahamatullah,
general secretary of the BHF on Thursday.
‘We will apply to the International Hockey Federation to organise round two of the World
Hockey League because the national team is doing well in the recent times and we have not organised any international meet since May, 2010,’ said Rahamatullah.
Today is the last day to apply for the tournament as hosts and the BHF will send their application to the IHF.
Meanwhile, a source informed that the BHF has selected former Pakistan coach Naved Alam as the new coach for the Bangladesh national team.
Two Indian coaches, Rajendar Singh and Harendra Singh were initially named in the short-list along with Naved but the BHF decided to go ahead with Naved due to his manageable demands.
