Locals beat up two criminals yesterday as they attempted to kidnap a 14-year-old girl forcefully while she was on her way to private tutor’s house with her father at Kamarpara in city’s Turag.
The locals caught the goons Nazrul Islam, 18, and Faisal Ahmed, 22 and handed them over to police after giving them a good thrashing.
Witnesses said the victim, a student of class eight, was going to her teacher’s house at about 10am accompanied by her father.
Faisal and Nazrul got in their way and hurled abusive words towards them. Then they tried to pull her away by force and physically assaulted her father as he tried to protect his daughter, locals added.
Ferdous ur Rahman sub inspector of Turag Police Station, said as the victims started screaming for help locals rushed the scene and beat up the stalkers before handing them over to the police.
The victim’s father said the stalkers used to harass his daughter regularly over the last six months whenever she came out of her house.
