The National Board of Revenue on Monday made a big reshuffle in its income tax administration transferring 27 commissioners across the country. The revenue board announced the decision through an official order issued on the day as a move to speed up its revenue collection efforts.
Three additional commissioners of taxes — Abdul Baten, Mahmudur Rahman and Motahar Hossain — also got promotion as commissioner on the day.
Currently, there are 31 commissioners in the income tax administration.
As part of the reshuffle, the NBR appointed Tax Appellate Tribunal commissioner Md Belal Uddin as director general of Central Intelligence Cell of the board, the most important wing for Nurul Alam, commissioner of Tax Zone-12, Dhaka was made commissioner at Large Taxpayer Unit, another important office of the NBR, which is responsible for collecting tax from big companies.
