Abahani Limited thrashed Sadharan Bima SC by 8-2 in their Premier Hockey league match at the Maulana Bhasani Hockey Stadium on Monday. With the win Abahani reached the top of the table with 26 points from 10 matches though Usha Krira Chakra is just one point behind them with one less game. Pakistani Safqat Rasool led the rout with four goals and local player Maksudul Alam Habul scored two goals for the title contenders.
Mohammad Irfan and Shakeel Abbasi struck one goal apiece to join the fest for blue and whites while Farhad Ali and Faisal Hossain scored two consolation goals for Bima.
In the day’s other match, Azad SC and Ajax SC played out an exciting 5-5 draw.
