Biman Bangladesh Airlines has restored its connectivity with Hong Kong by reinitiating its Dhaka-Hong Kong-Dhaka direct flight on Monday.
Starting from 1992, Hong Kong had been in Biman’s network until the last September when the national flag carrier had to suspend its flights to Hong Kong in the wake of an acute shortage of aircraft.
The long-awaited inaugural flight of Biman Bangladesh Airlines on Dhaka Hong Kong sector BG 078 took off on Monday thus fulfilling the carrier’s earlier commitment for resuming the operations within the shortest possible time, a Biman news release said here on Monday.
The airlines and its hundreds of thousands of discerning passengers on the sector have been looking forward to the moment since the Biman’s new British CEO announced of it, only a couple of weeks ago, it said.
With the restart of Monday’s operation, hundreds of thousands of passengers from both ends will be benefited by availing Biman’s twice a week flights to and from Hong Kong who travel the sector mainly for business and tourism reasons.
It is hoped that the sector would help increase Biman’s revenue substantially too, the release said.
The airline has designated one DC-10 to serve the destination which has a capacity of accommodating 315 passengers. The designated flight BG 078 will depart Dhaka on every Monday and Friday at 12:55 and on the same days BG 079 will depart Hong Kong at 20:00, both local times.
Now with the inclusion of Hong Kong to Biman’s Key-cities network, the number of Biman’s international destination increases to 19. The state-owned airlines has also resorted its Dhaka-Delhi- Dhaka flight recently.
