BNP Secretary General Khandaker Delwar Hossain yesterday claimed that 13 people were killed and innumerable others injured by the Awami League activists since the day after the December 29 elections.
In a statement, Delwar condemned the home minister’s remark, terming the post-election violence an ‘outcome of BNP’s internal conflict’.
“Government is patronising the criminals who are torturing the BNP men and common people across the country,” he alleged.
He also said the government mindset of patronising terrorism will only contribute to the spread of terrorism, but people expect a responsible role of an experienced politician like the home minister.
“The home minister took recourse to falsehood to cover up the terrorist acts by her party’s leaders and workers,” the BNP leader said, adding that the government should ensure safety of people’s life by taking action against ruling party’s criminals.
Home Minister Sahara Khatun on Thursday told reporters that the post-election violence was an outcome of BNP’s intra-party conflict.
