BNP will support Nobel Peace Prize-winner Muhammad Yunus, who founded Grameen Bank, to strengthen overall activities of that financial institution in future, Shamsher Mobin Chowdhury, an adviser to BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia has said. He was speaking to the media after conferring a citation on behalf of Khaleda on the Noble laureate in recognition of his achievement as the first Bangladeshi to win the highest civilian award of USA.
Mobin along with the party’s vice-chairman M Osman Faruk handed over the citation to Yunus at the Yunus Centre on Sunday evening. Yunus was awarded the Congressional Gold Medal, on April 17 by John Boehner, Speaker of the US Congress. Mobin said the contribution of the Grameen Bank to the country’s overall economy is great example. BNP expects progress of the bank as well as its founder Mohammad Yunus, Mobin said.
