Chaotic situation may arise centring Deputy Speaker: MK Anwar

BNP Secretary General Khandaker Delwar on Wednesday asked party leaders and activists to be united and work together to strengthen the party’s organisational activities.
He said as the number of women is half of the total population in the country, “we along with women will have to go ahead to develop the country. No country can develop itself keeping female outside in the development work. We want to promote women and ensure their involvement in every sector,” Delwar said.
BNP Vice Chairman Begum Sarwari Rahman said BNP along with common people will put pressure on the ruling Awami League-led grand alliance to implement its election manifesto.
Meanwhile talking to The Bangladesh Today on Wednesday BNP Vice Chairman MK Anwar said as per Awami League’s commitment, it will have to appoint Deputy Speaker from the opposition in the first session of the 9th parliament scheduled to sit on January 25.
“If the ruling Awami League offers the post of Deputy Speaker after amending the constitution, it would be very difficult for us to accept the proposal. As a result country’s future politics may turn uncertain again,” he apprehended.
Echoing the same voice BNP Joint Secretary General Selima Rahman told this correspondent if Awami League wants to play a game centring Deputy Speaker, a chaotic situation may be created in the parliament. “We want to witness the first session of the 9th parliament going smoothly. But if Awami League acts whimsically, ignoring its commitment, a chaotic situation will be created. Nobody wants to see such a situation in the parliament,” she added.
