The Bangladesh Olympic Association will start the long-awaited specialised training programme for 26 athletes from January 10, officials said after an executive committee meeting on Monday. The BOA picked the athletes from four different disciplines to prepare themselves for the Commonwealth Games and the Asian Games next year. ‘We initially planned to start the long-term training programme from January 1 but the BOA executive
committee decided to start it from January 10 as we still need a bit more time to prepare the venues and arrange accommodation for 26 athletes and eight coaches,’ said BOA training and development committee chairman Ashiqur Rahman Miku on Monday.
The BOA also finalised the wages of the athletes with each of them allotted Tk 15,000 per month plus Tk 3000 as washing charge.
Each of the eight local coaches will receive Tk 20,000 per month as well as Tk 3000 as washing charge.
Only the shooters from the 26 athletes will practice in Gulshan Shooting Complex but they will reside in Dhaka Cantonment along with the other athletes from boxing, taekwondo and archery.
Meanwhile, Bangladesh Rowing Federation vice president Hazi Khorshed Alam defeated Bangladesh Handball Federation general secretary Asaduzzaman Kohinoor in the BOA executive committee polls on Monday.
Bangladesh Judo Federation former secretary Abdul Kadir was elected unopposed.
