A splendid Nouka Baich (boat race) was held in Chitra river of Narail on Saturday as part of the three-day SM Sultan Mela.
National Rowing Federation, S M Sultan Foundation and private mobile phone operator Banglalink jointly organised the fair to celebrate the master painter’s 91st birth anniversary.
The main attraction of the fair, amid other cultural shows, was the boat race. Thousands of people gathered on the banks of river Chitra to enjoy the boat race.
Mohammad Abdus Samad, divisional commissioner of Khulna, attended the prize giving ceremony as the chief guest. Shafiq Ahammed Siddiq, professor of Accounting Department at Dhaka University; Mohammad Abdul Kader, police super of Narail; Babul Haque, regional commercial head of Banglalink in Khulna, and others were present as special guests. The event was
presided over by MA Gaffar Khan, district commissioner of Narail and also president of SM Sultan Foundation.
