Usain Bolt’s self-styled journey towards becoming an athletic legend is set to be completed today when his most preferred event – men’s 200-metre sprint – will be held at London Olympic Stadium.
With the pressure to defend his crown as the planet’s fastest man is now off, Bolt returned to his usual self and sent a chilling message to his challengers winning his heats in 20.39 seconds.
He was to run another race in the semi-final last night and barring a disaster he is certain to overcome it with a similar ease. And with this expected result it would reignite the Olympic Stadium that has already witnessed a piece of history in the 100-metre final.
His record 9.63 seconds finish in 100-metre changed the atmosphere of the Games completely as it has got back it’s most powerful athlete in his usual mood.
Bolt kept himself confined in Athletes’ Village before defending his 100-metre crown, but now he has appeared jolly, as he always is, offering spectators an extravagant version of his trademark lightning bolt pose before the 200-metre heat.
He was in a celebration mood shortly after his 100-metre win, posting a picture of three Swedish female handball players with him in his twitter account as dead of night as 3:00am.
The photograph has already become a hottest media property in many part of the world with dozens of journalists lining behind Bolt to know his association with Swedish blondes.
Britain’s Daily Telegraph was successful in giving the version of Bolt, who said he was chilled with the girl the night he won his back-to-back 100-metre Olympic crown.
‘Whatcha want to know?’ Telegraph quoted him as saying. ‘I went to the
cafeteria to get some food, I saw them and we started talking. They wanted pictures. We chilled. I told
them I had a great idea for a picture. So we took a picture.’
A relaxed Bolt even reacted to the invitation of Manchester United footballer Rio Ferdinand to join a trial in his club.
Ferdinand, like many other Bolt fans tweetted him: ‘If you want that trial at Man Utd shout me, I’ll speak to the boss!! Well done in 100m, waiting for you to smash the 200m now!’
Bolt thanked the football star and said he will work it out after the Olympics and in another tweet Bolt asked team-mate Asafa Powel to bring back the banana back he stole from his room.
They all came as an indication that he is enjoying his time in London, which could be a message for his challenger with the key one being none other than his another Jamaican team-mate Yohan Blake.
Blake defeated Bolt both in 100m and 200m in Jamaican trial but Bolt has already proved they are just a one small hiccup. He put Blake behind him in 100m in London and there is no reason why he cannot do it again.
