Bangladesh all-rounder Sakib al Hasan took little time to jump into promotional activities after he returned from India on Wednesday following a successful stint in the Indian Premier League. Sakib flew to Chittagong in the afternoon after his arrival to participate in a programme of Boost, an energy drink for children, of which he is the brand ambassador since 2011. Sakib, who was crowned sixth most valuable player of the IPL, dodged the local media at the Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport on his arrival from Kolkata.
Local media was willing to seize the opportunity to know about his IPL experience, where Sakib grabbed 11 wickets and scored 227 runs to help Kolkata Knight Riders become champions, but he was in no mood to oblige the journalists.
Sakib drove away on his own car that was waiting for him at the airport. Some private television channels that followed him to his residence were left frustrated as Sakib went straight to his house ordering the gatekeeper to show his unwanted visitors the way.
Sakib, who celebrated his second IPL crown with CEAT most valuable Twenty20 player of the year award, is expected to join the national cricket team’s training camp for the India series soon.
BCB officials, however, said they were not sure exactly when the star all-rounder would report at the camp.
‘I really don’t know when he will join the camp as he is yet to talk with me in this regard,’ BCB’s cricket operation chairman Akram Khan told New Age on Wednesday.
‘Sakib has just arrived today. He has been playing for quite some time so I think he deserves a few days’ rest,’ added Akram.
