Candidates of Byabasayi Oikya Parishad gained won 14 director posts, out of 20, in the Khunla Chamber of Commerce and Industry’s bi-annual election held on Monday.
Samomona Byabasayi Parishad won 4 posts and Khulna Byabasayi Kalyan Parishad won 2, said principal Jafar Imam, chairman of the election board.
The election was held from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm with enthusiasm and amidst tight security.
A total of 1,042 out of 1,103 voters in general category and a total of 803 out of 883 in associate category cast vote.
Eighteen directors have been elected through voting among 34 contestants and 2 elected uncontested. The uncontested candidates are Kazi Aminul Haque, former president of KCCI and Awami League leader Saiful Islam in business category.
The directors elected in general category under BOP panel are Sharif Atiar Rahman, S M Obaidullah, Quazi Shanewaz, Md Shadat Hossain Badsha, Md Rafiqul Jahid, S M Nurul Huda Munna, Abdul Bashar Patoary, Md Mostafa Kamal Pasha, Md Tofazzal Hosain and M A Matin Panna. Md Emdadul Haque Khalashi and Md Omar Faruq Mithu were elected in the same category under KBKP panel.
Kazi Hafizur Rahaman, Sheikh Gausul Azam, Ali Akbar Tipu and S M Khalid Hossain have been elected in associate category from SBP panel. Md Aminul Islam Munna and Mostofa Jesan Vutto have been elected in the same category from BOP panel.
