The Bangladesh Open University on Friday celebrated its 30th founding anniversary on its campus in Gazipur.
The celebration began with hoisting the national flag at Swadhinata Chirantan memorial sculpture on the campus by the university vice-chancellor Professor Dr Syed Humayun Akhter in the morning, said a press release.
Office chiefs of all the regional and sub-regional centres of BOU across Bangladesh celebrated the founding anniversary by hoisting national flag at their respective office premises.
After hoisting the national flag, the VC along with university teachers and officials paid tributes to the country’s founding president Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and the martyrs, the release said.
A 30-pound cake was cut on Gazipur campus to mark the day, it said.
BOU pro-VC (administration) Professor Dr Nasim Banu, pro-VC (academic) Professor Dr Mahbuba Nasreen, treasurer Professor Mostafa Azad Kamal, registrar Mostafa Kamal Azad, BOU Teachers Association president Professor Dr Sarkar Md Noman, among others, were also present on the occasion, the press release said.
