The British Council extended its educational services here at the port city Chittagong by opening two resource centres in partnership with the Shishu Academy and Chittagong City Corporation-run Premier University.
Students (children to university goers) and professionals of the port city now can be more benefited as British Council has introduced a number of innovative measures to make its educational services more accessible in the new resource centres.
Management of the British Council, the UK’s international cultural relations organisation, signed two separate Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the management of Premier University and Shishu Academy recently at its Chittagong centre office.
Mayor of Chittagong City Corporation ABM Mohiuddin Chowdhury addressed the MoU signing ceremony as chief guest while vice-chancellor of Premier University Prof. Dr. Anupom Sen, director of Bangladesh Chapter of British Council Charles Nuttall OBE and director of Shishu Academy, Chittagong, Abdus Salam addressed the function, among others.
Addressing the function Mohiuddin Chowdhury expressed hope that the two resource centres will play significant role in spreading knowledge among the young generation.
Dr. Anupom Sen said that the children and students of the city will be highly benefited in cultivating their English knowledge from the new centres of British Council.
Charles Nuttall OBE said that the mission of British Council in Bangladesh was to connect people worldwide with learning the opportunities and creative ideas from the UK.
“We will continue to maintain the same levels of excellent customer service to those who want to access our English learning services and all the programmes associated with them in the new resource centres,” he added.
Earlier, Charles Nuttall OBE held a press conference at the Chittagong centre of British Council. He informed the newsmen that only the matured students and English language learners will have access in the new British Council-Premier University Resource Centre while children will have access in the new British Council-Shishu Academy Young Learners Centre.
The Press conference was attended, among others, by Resource Centre manager of British Council, Bangladesh Sarwat Masuda Reza and Head of Chittagong Exams of British Council Nayeemur Rahman.
It may be mentioned that with introducing the new resource centres the British Council is now providing its educational services through three offices in the port city.
