The Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission has initiated a move to launch its own mobile application for better communication with public, said officials concerned. According to BTRC officials, the application will contain most of the feature of the current web site of BTRC. ‘It will also have separate complain option which will enable the mobile phone users to communicate with BTRC about their problems,’ a BTRC official told New Age on Monday.
He said the application might be launched at the inauguration of the 54th annual meeting of Commonwealth Telecommunications Organisation scheduled to be held in Dhaka in September 8-12.
BTRC chairman Sunil Kanti Bose at a workshop on Sunday also mentioned that the mobile operators were not handling the customers’ complaints properly.
‘When subscribers go to the operator with a problem, they don’t take responsibility and ask them to go to the regulator. The customers face difficulties to find us and when they come to us we see that the problem should have been solved by the operators,’ he said while speaking at the daylong workshop, organised by global association of telecom operators GSMA in cooperation with the Association of Mobile Telecom Operators of Bangladesh.
