The telecom regulator on Tuesday asked all telecom, internet and interconnection operators to submit their documents of expired and lifetime duration service and tariff approvals of last five years for a review in order to reduce the tariff and extend the time. According to the Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission notice issued on the day, the services of different operators including telecom companies, WiMax companies and internet service providers approved since 2007 until today requires reconsideration in the light of current market condition.
It also asked all the operators to submit the documents of service approvals for reconsideration within the next 10 days.
‘We issued many service approvals for lifetime which need to be changed considering the current market situation. So we have decided to revise all the approvals of last five year,’ a senior BTRC official told New Age on Tuesday.
There are many services of different telecom operators which are expired but the operators are still running and the BTRC do not have the proper knowledge of those, he said.
