Students of Barisal University on Monday held a rally and sit-in on the campus as part of their continued agitation demanding immediate arrest of the killer of Saoda.
Meanwhile, police sought remand of the arrested friend of the killer, Russel.
The students at the rally said class boycott, road-blockade and hunger strike would be observed until the killer and instigators of the killing were arrested and they were given exemplary punishment.
The rally was held under the banner of General Students’ Forum at Shaheed Minar on the campus.
Police arrested Bipul Baroi, first year accounting student of BU, after the killing and indicted him in Saoda murder case as a close friend of Russell.
Police on Monday, after producing Bipul in court, appealed for a five-day remand for interrogating him.
However Mir Zahidul Kabir, additional chief judicial magistrate of
Barisal, fixed September 11 for hearing of remand appeal.
Bipul maintained contact over mobile phone with Russell before and after the attack on Saoda.
Russell is, however, yet to be traced till this report, and so Bipul would be interrogated further, said investigation officer and Barisal Kotwali police station in-charge Shakhawat Hossain.
Two special teams of Barisal police are already in the field to arrest the killer, he added.
Saoda Mallik, accounting department student
of the university, was hacked to death by Russell Mia of management department.
