Burnt in a petrol bomb attack on December 21, a victim died on Friday at Dhaka Medical College Hospital, doctors said. The deceased was Shahjahan Miah, 28, a cook at a hotel in Mymensingh and resident of Nahata of Gouiripur under the district.
Family sources said Shahjahan was going home on December 21 in a CNG-driven auto-rickshaw from Mymenshingh town.
As he reached Ahmedpur triangle, miscreants hurled petrol bomb at the CNG, burning Shahjahan severely.
He was taken to Goiripur Health Complex and Mymensingh Medical College Hospital but was shifted to DMCH on December 22.
On Friday noon, Shahjahan succumbed to his wounds at the DMCH.
Latifa Banu, mother of Shahjahan, told New Age that her son was father of two children and only earning member of the family.
‘Why an innocent man should be victim of two leaders’ (Hasina and Khaleda) quarrel? … I don’t know who will run our family now…’ Latifa laments.
She demanded exemplary punishment of the criminals.
