Speakers at a discussion stressed the need for bringing the underprivileged street children under mainstream development by providing them with basic facilities especially education, health and shelter.
Privileged groups of the society should do something for development of the street children, they said, adding if every rich family comes forward with supports, no children would have to reside on streets.
They were speaking at a function to inaugurate a painting exhibition of street children titled ‘Chotto Danar Ural’ at National Museum in the city on Friday, said a press release.
‘Bringing economic empowerment to street children’, a project under the Population Services Training Centre arranged the exhibition in cooperation with Plan Bangladesh.
Dilip Barua, industries minister, spoke on the occasion as the chief guest.
Milon Bikash Paul, PSTC executive director, presided over the function while Sabih-ul-Alm, artist, Selina Amin, country project manager of Plan Bangladesh and Abdul Mannan, programme unit manager addressed.
