Dhaka University vice-chancellor AAMS Arefin Siddique on Saturday emphasised the importance of health economics in country’s universal health coverage as well as overall development.
‘The role of health economics is important in overall development of a country. The Institute of Health Economics is working relentlessly with remarkable success’, he said while opening the two-day international symposium as the chief guest here at Nabab Nawab Ali Chowdhury Senate building.
Vice minister, ministry of health from Indonesia Dr Ali Ghufron Mukti said that he is pleased to see the rapid development of the country and hoped this symposium will enrich the knowledge of new tools and technical supports of health economics.
IHE of DU with support of GIZ and health ministry is organising the symposium on ‘Health Economic Issues and Health Care Financing’ aims to bring together IHE alumnus, academics, practitioners, policy makers as well as European and regional experts to change their views on the subject of health economics and health financing.
Presided over by director of IHE Professor Shamsuddin Ahmed, Treasurer of DU Professor M Kamal Uddin and Nahid Akhter Jahan of IHE spoke.
Health minister AFM Ruhal Haque is scheduled to be present at the concluding programme today at the same place.
