Speakers at a programme yesterday stressed the need for creating mass awareness and establishing rule of law to prevent stalking from the society.
They also held the dominating attitudes of both male and female responsible for the spread of stalking in Bangladesh.
They told the audience at a Parliamentary Debate Contest Programme at Bangladesh Shishu Academy on the occasion of child rights week that ended yesterday, says a press release.
Bangladesh Shishu Academy, Jatiya Kanyashishu Advocacy Forum (National Girls Child Advocacy Forum) and Debate for Democracy jointly organised the programme.

Speaking as the chief guest, Acting Secretary of the Ministry of Women and Children Affairs Tarique-ul-Islam said people commit stalking for doing fun, ignoring its impact on girls.
“Only implementation of the law could not prevent this social stigma. We need to increase social awareness [toward the bad effects of stalking],” he said.
Falguni Hamid, director of Bangladesh Shishu Academy and cultural person Rehana Siddique were the judges of the event.
Dr Badiul Alam Majumdar, president of Jatiya Konyashishu Advocacy Forum, presided over the programme.
